Hey Everyone -

I will update the news, etc., but for now you all can go hear the new live recording I got (thanks to Cash) for the band. It has FIVE unreleased songs I have never even heard before... The timing and location is a little up in the air right now, but I am trying to track it down.

Very good quality, too! I would check it out right now!

I seem to remember going to a gig which happened after a long period of Bolshoi inactivity following all the promotion tours for Lindy's Party. I think it was at the Underworld and I remember that they played a fair few new songs.

One title I recall was 'News of the world' which doesn't apear on this boot so maybe it was a different one.

I also have the impression that this was the last gig they ever did as The Bolshoi, so would have been later than 1987 I reckon.

I haven't heard what this location of this one is (yet). I am hoping to find out soon. It does certainly appear to be stacked with new material so I wouldn't be surprised if it was at the end of the band's life cycle...

Meanwhile, there are upwards of FOUR more shows to add in coming weeks. All are from '87 and most appear to have similar tracklists to the other '87 shows.

Amazing what starts coming out of the woodwork!

Love the 5 new songs, especially Everything Is Done For You Today... shame they didn't go ahead with the third album, seems like there could be nearly a full album's worth of unreleased material from this period. I see that "Perfect Time" was redone with Kite, so I wonder if any other Kite songs were originally written for the third Bolshoi album?

I am not sure on the Kite songs, but 'Everything is done for you today', titled as 'Everything is Clear' was on the tracklist for the album, provisonally titled at least by some at Beggars as 'Country Life', 'Perfect Time' was not. The whole album is in the vaults at BB, but I doubt if they can be persuaded to release it now (although they had a great opportunity after the Best of was released).

Sounds like the proper name for the song is "Everything is Clear" -- I think the titles for new songs on the live tape can easily be considered guesses.

Trevor did say he's been trying to get BB to give him the rights to the album with no luck. He's not particularly pleased with the situation!

Do you have the full tracklist? I would like to post it if possible (even if it's not going to see the light of day anytime soon).

Looking at my original post I think I was a bit unclear! The track 'Everything is Clear' is on the last unreleased Bolshoi album which BB have in the vaults (the Kite one I think is hiding in RCA's vault - I have less idea on those tracks apart from Perfect Time). I will dig out the full Bolshoi tracklist (there were 17 tracks from memory) including World in Action (which I am surprised was not played at the gig), Country life, and a load more.

As for Kite, I did live in London while Trevor was putting his band together and I have a few live tapes of him at the Marquee, firstly with Trevor Tanner and Friends, which then morphed a few months later into Kite. They will be in a box somewhere and I must dig them out. I have a press pack from Kite (I was promoting gigs and got Kite a gig) which has loads of details on band members, but from memory it also included members of Then Jericho, which I thought at the time was a bit weird, as they were far removed from the Bolshoi in sound, but they all gelled together well and were a good laugh in the pub.

Ah -- makes more sense. Very cool you have all that stuff. Looking forward to seeing/hearing some it down the line! Be sure to check out my new post about the new live concerts posted...
